TACT (Transgender Adovocates of Central Texas) presented HRC Austin Black Tie attendees an opportunity to learn about and discuss gender expression issues

The Theme “Gender ExpressionMatters”, was highlighted by the presence of small round stickers being offered and applied to tuxedo lapels and velvet gowns of HRC members who stopped.

Members of TACT askedthe question  whether HRC members felt as if transgender people are a component of the LGBT community.

All TACT participants felt welcomed by the party goers and were encouraged by the overwhelming support offered my almost all of the attendees.  That support was shown, often times in the form of hugs and long hand shakes. Many HRC members related personal interest in the passage of an ENDA that was fully inclusive of all the community.  Many related stories of personal discrimination based on gender expression.

When asked of the impact of this event, TACT Board Member Lisa Scheps said,”  “I would encourage Trans Activists all across the country to hold similar events in their jurisdictions. The rank and file of HRC needs to be educated on the issues so they can tell their leadership to shift their thinking””                                                                                                                           TACT believes that educational initiatives such as the one that took place at the AustinHRC Black Tie Event is the best way of positively affecting and educating the LGBT community on issues that, not only affect one subsection of the community, but affect the entire group.

“In doing this we can be visible and aid in the passageof legislation which protect the community as a whole,” says gender activist and TACT member Autumn.

Sailing without the Tea

I had coffee with Joe Solomonese this morning. I would like to have something positive to report on this once in a lifetime meeting, but I do not.

Mr. Solomones generously spent his home away from home time discussing in some detail the intricacies and unbelievable difficulties of passing ENDA.  We discussed the good,(Vermont and New Jersey) and the Massachusetts situation.

We attempted to find a way to have HRC involved with transgender issues in a support rather than a lead role. Mr. Solomese pointed out HRC is darned if it does and darned if it don’t.

The good people of Massachusetts have waited, sequestered,  by strong political forces obstinately to protect the definition of gender. I am witness to the diffuclities imposed by a “liberal” social atmosphere which was biased and prejudicial.  I immigrated to the republic of Texas where I have found hard working people non judgemental and welcoming,  free of politically inspired  images of “men with penis’s in womans showers”.

I am not among a few who believe HRC has had their turn at holding the football. We would like to just say no. Our trust can not be regained quickly, if ever . It is a reality. It is a political reality.   We believe HRC should sail from Boston harbor without the tea.

We are the voices being heard/how to identify and deal with bullies

We are the voices being heard/how to identify and deal with a bully
You know who you are. You are the HRC member who whispered confessions “I like to wear panties” softly into my ear at a black tie event least your contemporaries should hear. Then I gave you a knowing wingk and confess “shush ,girlfriend sometimes I wear boxers”
You are the Doctor, truck driver, student, pilot and perhaps a bloger or two.
Some are peering from behind a wall of discrimination. Aware that any sudden movements would attract vicious predators.

Afraid becuse the conscripts the politicans have enabled to the point of violence by voicing to the public, bigoted and fear inspiring pronouncments such as the infamous speech by the openly gay Massachessetts Congressman Barney Frank in 1999 in which he announced “transgendered people want a law that mandates a person with a penis be allowed to shower with woman.”

Mr Frank has built a career catering to the odd bedfellows of Log Cabin democrates and homophobic hate mongers who together shout in glee as each time Barney Frank leads gender variant people to the top of the mountain of ENDA success only to be shoved from behind to the abass below.

Could it be that Mr. Frank’s satement in 1999 was at least in part to divert attention from a recently exposed long term alleged prostitution addiction as profiled in;

Mr. Frank has built a career bullying the helpless of the world and in turn bolstering and validating the causes for which he is interested in.

The National outcry of outrage produced by the latest ENDA dabacle has sent Barney Frank and his coconspiraor and social power base HRC into full damage control mode.
The acknowledgement by HRC and Mr. Franks blatant transgressions are being maifested by HRC’s $ 25,000.00 dollar grant to Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition(MTPC)’s first newly installed paid chair person Gunner(apt name) Scott, who by self proclamation is at once the originator of all things gender and the under dog at large.
Massachesetts Congressman Barney Frank has since sent his State political machinery in motion and his political minons falling over themselfs proclaiming “gender varience for all and all a good night”.

What makes this all the more insidious is the subtle ways HRC and Barney Frank are attempting to vilify and isolate the purely gender varient from their just causes.

However we are viligent and unafraid.
We will identify and cull from the herd the charlatans, Arnolds and Stantons.

You have been identified Gunner Scott.

This fact has not been lost on the local chapter of the American Transgender Veterans Association(TAVA) which has withdrawn from the MTPC coalition to protest the HRC grant but has made it known that it remains steadfast in support of the Massachesetts gender inclusive admendments to a sex only 1989 law. This brings to question, is there anyway to successfully intergrate the gender variant?
The answer is a resounding YES!

In the Blueprint for change by Ethan Jacobs staff reporterWednesday Jan 16, 2008 appearing in the Baywindows

“”Activists in New Jersey, which passed a gay rights bill in 1992, landed a one-two punch in 2006 and 2008, passing first a non-discrimination bill and then a hate crimes bill covering gender identity and expression. Steven Goldstein, chair of Garden State Equality, the state’s largest LGBT rights organization, said that it took little effort to win over lawmakers on the bills because many of them were already familiar with members of the transgender community and understood the discrimination they faced. He said transgender people have served in leadership positions in Garden State Equality and other organizations, and they lobbied lawmakers on a wide range of issues, including marriage.’

“If you make sure that transgender people are in every facet of your organization, if you make sure they’re in the leadership of your organization, you’re providing constant exposure to politicians. … Here transgender people are front and center in the fight for marriage equality,” said Goldstein. “The politicians here see transgender people year round at the table.”

In Vermont, which has passed a non-discrimination bill covering transgender people last year,  Lgbt advoacy orginications had a history of including the transgender community among their members said Kara DeLeonardis, exucuitive director of the ru12 LGBT community center in Burlington.

“It was absolutely critical to passing this legislation that legislators and the governor got to meet with transgender Vermonters, and that had not happened before, where that level of transgender people were visible and vocal and telling their stories about why this legislation was important,” said DeLeonardis.

Massacusetts where the transgender people have been forced out of the public, orchardstrated by MTPC.                                                                                                         “That lack of visibility during the marriage movement was no coincidence. Scott said there was an agreement by some transgender activists and marriage activists that the transgender community would step out of the spotlight during the marriage struggle in exchange for help from the gay, lesbian and bisexual community to pass pro-trans legislation once the marriage battle was over. He said the decision was made in part to protect the transgender community. MTPC worried that a constitutional amendment to define marriage as the union between one man and one woman could be particularly disastrous for transgender people, creating more rigid legal definitions of male and female in the law.

HRC and Barney Frank are now attempting in Massacusetts to buy and bully there way out of the gender corner. It is clear that MTPC is nothing but a tool used by Frank and HRC to silence and send our Transgender brothers and sisters to obilvion.

And now we see clearly how HRC and Barney Frank have used their political and monatary might to do mighty damage to mankind.

We must face up directly with those who seek to do us harm. Go to the HRC Balls. Conduct the Educational Initiative as suggested as being needed by Frank. Face your political represenatives. Let them know the good in your heart.

The answer to Barney Frank and HRC national steering committee lays right in our laps.
